New Laws of Interest Webinar

Following the adjournment of the 2024 legislative session and the signing of all bills, the League will be hosting a webinar about the newly signed laws which cities should know about.
In addition to this webinar, you can find the “New Laws of Interest to Cities” publication in the July Cityscape and on the League’s website once it is finished.
This webinar will take place Tuesday June 18 from 12 -1 p.m. Registration required.

Legislative Issue Survey

As the League develops the 2025 policy agenda this summer, we would like to know your input. We have developed this survey and would ask all city officials to fill it out.

Get to Know your Legislator

While new laws are not being passed outside of the legislative session, ideas are being considered and formulated year round. Get to know your legislator in the interim while they have fewer demands of their time.
Building a relationship with your legislator outside of session can help you impact legislation come January. It’s never too late, or too early to get to know state lawmakers.

Resources

The Iowa Legislature passed SF 2442, a property tax omnibus bill that has several implications for Iowa cities, from changes to the Combined General Fund Levy calculation to public notice rules. The League has prepared an overview of these changes to provide clarity on this bill.
