Get to Know your Legislator

  • While new laws are not being passed outside of the legislative session, ideas are being considered and formulated year round. Get to know your legislator in the interim while they have fewer demands of their time.

  • Building a relationship with your legislator outside of session can help you impact legislation come January. It’s never too late, or too early to get to know state lawmakers.

Resources

  • The Iowa Legislature passed SF 2442, a property tax omnibus bill that has several implications for Iowa cities, from changes to the Combined General Fund Levy calculation to public notice rules. The League has prepared an overview of these changes to provide clarity on this bill.
